Pioneer DEH-P880PRS faceplate modifications

Has anyone ever considered or even done ANY modifications to their P880 faceplates??

I have 2 basic ideas/questions:

1. a) Is it possible, easy and/or doable to remove the "Premier" emblem from the face? It looks plastic, and looks like its simply glued onto the face.

b) How about erasing the "DEH-P880PRS" from top left corner and "Pioneer" from the bottom right? Since the faceplace is metal/stainless it looks like these are simply printed on the metal. Would a paint thinner/striper safely remove the lettering without leaving a mark? Has any one done it?

Update:

The painted "Pioneer", "DEH...." and "Open" lettering comes off w/o any problems (i used a marine paint stripper-all i had). Procedure leaves NO marks, smudges, etc what-so-ever! (be carefull though....use a Q-tip and very small amounts of stripper/thinner and slowely rub off the lettering; u dont want this stuff anywhere else on the face.......some liquids run off easily-u've been warned)

Face stays clean as a whistle. See the pix attached to this post. Unofrtunatelly. the "Premier" plastic emplem, once removed (pops off easily) leaves us with 2 unsightly holes in the metal - size of the reset button/hole. I replaced the double stick tape on it, then put it back on the faceplace.

2. Some of you love the blue background lights, other swear by white. What about trying to match the rest of the dash lights? My Subaru has green lights everywhere. I wouldn't even begin to dream about messing aroudn with the screen itself, but how about the background? Since we can do "white," do you think it's possible to take the face apart, and put green tint/film/whatever behind it so that when "white" is selected it shows green? (sort of like many gauges/clusters are done).

I just got my unit yesterday, but I will be taking the screw off the face soon....just to take a look "behind the sceens" and see what's doable.

Your opinions...............?

PS:

Please don't turn the thread into: "omg, whywould you wanna do that, etc."

We all have our own opinions, and some of us like the "stock" look. I wanna see if I can make this thing "stand out as little as possible."

Thanks

...would be great.

I did some extensive searches here, but found nothing specific.

Also.....if I take on this project - is the board interested in pictures + steps + write up?

What year is your Subaru? I've changed my 02 over to red dash lighting to match my Eclipse deck and it wasn't difficult. Might be easier to do that unless you are partial to the green.

...mine's 06 Limited.

I also think that changing the lights on the H would be a lot LESS work than the entire dash/gauge cluster + HVACS. (I may be wrong however).

Green is "easy" on the eyes during night-time driving. I don't want white gauges/etc all around me.

I trully feel for all these people with blue led glaring in their faces......but htis is a separate topic, and I don't wanna start a "hey, no blue bashing" debate here.

:p

I'll be taking my 880 apart this evening, I'll post some pix.

Also, The Volvo job is awsome, but I don't wan't to "incorporate" the 880 into an existing stock radio shell (I would imagine that not many here would want to do that as well)....

More updates soon.
