Pioneer avh-p4000dvd - install without sleeve?

Hey all,

I just purchased a Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD head unit, and it didn't come with a sleeve. I didn't realize that they just don't come with them (which is ridiculous in my opinion) but apparently they do not. My question is has anyone installed this unit or any other double din without the mounting sleeve? Is it safe to do? Or at least for a little while? Also, where can I pick up a sleeve for this item? Thanks!
