Pioneer amps any good?

I was just browsing Crutchfield and came across the Pioneer GM-DX871. It's currently on sale for $149.99 ($100 off). The specs are 300x1@4 ohms, 500x1@2 ohms and 800x1@1 ohm. I have no experience with Pioneer amps and was wondering if they are reliable?
I have heard they are reliable. On that note, for $50 more you can get the Stinger MT-2000.1. Double the power. Look at the "Deal Alert" posting.

I've used pioneer amps several times over the years. I currently have 2 mounted in my trunk, and they perform well. One for speakers at the bottom of the doors in my Mustang, and one to drive the upper doors and rear shelf speakers.

They definitely made great head units in the 80s and 90s!

Decent high and midrange amps, mid tier at best, just above PowerAcoustik from the low tier category.

For sub amps there are better options even with that discount. That Stinger deal is good, Skar would be my choice in that price range they are discounted as well. Sub amp is the least important component IMO, Subs next least important. I always go mid tier with subs and sub amps as one gains very little sq or spl with subs and sub amps in top tier category that usually cost 3-5 times more.

The Skar dual 10" subbox with Skar mono d amp 1500.1($600) blends in as well and is just as powerful as the dual JL 10" in custom made box with a JL sub amp($2000)

The law of diminishing return for subs and sub amps starts in the mid-tier category.

From my years 15 years, as an installer, I found Pioneer amps to be extremely reliable. They are also under rated. There are more powerful options available, for the same price, but I have not seen them last as long as a Pioneer. Don't get me wrong, the other amps are not crappy and unreliable, I just haven't seen them last as long.

I read that in a robot voice.

You can get that Skar amp in the "rebranded" variety for even cheaper than Skar offers them for.. Same exact everything just a different name silk screened on it.
So no need to even go through Skar unless you feel the name brings some bragging rights..

The Subs. Same story.. There is no point in showing brand loyalty when it's a cookie cutter piece of gear being sold by other companies, and even cheaper.. Since Cheap seems to be all most care about in car audio.

As for comparing Skar to JL.. You do understand why JL products cost more than Skar, don't you?

The only reason a lot of people do not use Pioneer Mono amps is the lack of a subsonic filter.

But the Stinger MT-2000.1 can be had for

Subtotal
$188.10
Shipping
$8.99
Total
USD$197.09

This amp would be my budget pick..

Could of swore I heard this amp was designed by one of the OG's from RE audio too..

I've never heard anyone choose their amp based on subsonic filter. Are you sponsored by pepsi?
