Here is some pictures of the new alpine 12 in type r. I plan on running 2 of these off a audiopipe 1800d in 4.5 cubes in a saturn sl car tell me what you think.

lol you mean hopefully they wont go up in price! seems like everybody around here wants last years model...biggest example that comes to mind is RE 05 XXX to 06 XXX.

Changes are listed on the site, looks like they changed for the better but im not sure.

I never liked the surround design, looks cheap to me. Plain surrounds would look much better. But they're nice subs.

Thats because those were the last years before RE was bought by US amps. Dont really know much about the whole thing since I was never interested in the RE but I remember being told that the guy who first owned RE sold it then started Fi .... not saying im 100% on that though

from what i can see it looks like the new type R has a 2.5" VC vs the 2" vc on the older version (this is what I think...)

Haha. Funny how things change. You got most of it right, but RE was co-owned and the other co-owner is probably a CA member you recognize. He likes pink.

Also Scott Atwell I think is the guy's name who started FI/Ascendant. I believe his is an electrical engineer. He designed the awesome RE subs from '05 and all of the FI/AA subs of today.
