PICS! REdestroyer 18, stainless steel port, mean machine

made this port out of stainless steel in my sheet metal shop, it's 24 gauge, it doesn't flex at all, i hem'd the bottom edges, you can stand on it, it doesn't move, it's exactly 4.98 inches deep, 8 inches by 8 inches.

i can make more of these ports, if anyone wants one.

this setup bangs hard. very smooth response. fairly impressed.

sure, i might need to clean my truck.

and buy a carpet.

that rust it shows is surface rust. it only goes on one side, and i ****ed up and put that on the side that shows.

not going to make any difference though.

none taken.

it's stainless steel, not galvanized, you cant bend it with your hands if you grab it. you cant even move it at all. you can place it on it's side and stand on it.

it does look kinda weak from the pics.

no flex though.

yeah man, 48hz, it's where my truck resonates at.

i am making another port at 28hz tomorrow with a 6x6 hole, that will have a 4 inch flange on it.

pics of that tomorrow.

that should get hte lows banging more.

cant wait for my new 18 to get here : )

good luck with your electrical! this one is dropping me to 11volts on every bass hit.

and it's got a 160amp alt in there already. and a fairly new ACdelco.

they are some serious power hungry amps.

You spend all that money on Dynamat (or similar) to stop rattling and then you add a metal port to the box. Genius!
