you are looking at the new intel quad cores ability to reproduce extremely rigorous multi tasking without the cpu coming remotely close to full load, i personally CANNOT get mine to full load regardless, running games, and 20 plus apps quad core is butter smooth

You do realize that running apps is far from a heavy CPU task right?

no i didnt know that. i dont know anything about pc's..

i run photoshop,burn dvd's,convert dvd's and have like 3 games open at once along with a grip of app's.

Yea just apps sitting there doing nothing doesnt really do much. photoshop is pretty intesne and so is converting dvd's. But the most intense items are heavy calculations and vector graphics ( they use equations to draw the lines )

I got a torrent of LOST season 3 in 720p in .mkv format. I want to watch it on my tv so Im converting it to 1920x1080 to match my TV's native resolution and to convert it into a more useable format.

Most applications wont even utilize all 4 cores. There have been tons of comparisons and the c2d is equal to the c2q if not better in most normal programs. The $100 less price tag is what makes it better.

until recently most programs wouldnt work on 2 cores, so to say it isnt as good is a moot point. In 2 years the quad will be the standard

ya i got my 37" lcd and surround hooked up to my shit also. its pretty sick. i havent rented a dvd in like 4 years.lol,its 720p not 1080 but it still looks clean as shitt plus its only a 37" so 1080p isnt to big of a deal

I wont pm you, but I will post it here, you probably should back everything up to an external, I put it on a drive I didnt have anything on so it was easy for me. the installer puts all your old files in a windows.old folder, but I don't trust it.
