Ive been looking to try my first recone. i just dont know what motor/softparts to go with. id want somthing that would put up big#s but i dont want to sacrifise SQ to much; same with soft parts... i have no clue wat to go with any1 got some ideas?

o ya this would be for a 15'' sub

Why do you think you need to do a recone? you aren't going to save much money, you aren't going to build it better than the manufacturer, and you definitely aren't going to get it "custom built to your specs". Buy a speaker that fits your needs, simple as that. plenty out there to choose from.

or its something i want to learn how to do. im just getting into car audio heavily and i want to learn how to do this; ive got some1 here in IL that is willing to go thru the steps with me

^ umm yes you can IF you know what ur doing. you can put better parts and build to the power ur running. if you dont know what ur doing it will be a BIG failure.

not many people here actually build there own recone the have one assembled for them. lay down some glue and drop it in.

if ur looking for a custom sub see one of the builders on here that way you will know you have a woofer that will last...

The guy that is gonna help teach me how to due a proper recone; builds all of his own subs. his SUV is really loud and ive heard good things about him on the IL comp forum; im just trying to figure out what motor would best suite my needs; if i fail at doing the recone ive always got my 10'' l7s to fall back on; this is just somthing i want to do

even then with the whole kit its easy to mess it up. i think someone was selling MT 18s on here for 300 bucks. cant beat that if ur looking for SPL

^ it could but would have to be a tard to screw it up. i have built alot of recones and custom machined baskets and motors havent had a single coil rub. drop in recones are cake!...
