If they were that much better assembled how come we dont hear about re and atomic and other subs failing constantly? because they dont. they are just as stout

There is a connection. Scott, the current owner of Fi, used to own RE. He sold those designs to PSI, and they modified them a little bit, and sold them to DC.

Its funny, when talking about RE, the old SX's, SE's and RE's look identical to the newer versions made abroad, yet people here claim they are vastly different due to being 'cheap Chinese knock offs'. But when compared to a diff manufacturers product that looks... similar.... the assumption is they must be virtually the same product.

ive read a review or 2 on DIYMA of the new RE subs and they were happy, tho thats not to say its the same as the old stuff

Your analogy to a completely different situation in a a made-up parallel is totally irrelevant. People who look at a speaker from the outside and determine its the same product, are people who understand very little about speaker design. Two similar looking drivers *might* be almost identical products, but its certainly no guarantee. Again, the old RE's and the new Chinese made RE's look even more similar (identical other than logo) and yet this same community concludes they are vastly different products.

-iirc jacob designs most of his own motors, and another thing to think about, if a design works well, why wouldnt other companies make a similar if not almost identical product

-look at the trf motor, and the SSXXX motor, even some of the older TC motors look alike and cactus is actually using unused TRF motors, or at least from the same build house that rockford used, and yes i know chris norris was involved with both companies thats why the design carried over.

-And no im not a dc nuthugger i just don't care to own something everyone else has and i dont agree with how they deal with customers on pricing, and im not discussing it again, the people that know what im talking about know what i mean and dont need to get their ******* in a knot again. nothing against DC its just not for me.

and SMD is a fucking joke. it should just be http://www.smdnutthuggers.com/forum/nuthuggers their knowledge is slim and their always about exactly what steve meade is, the guys a joke great for him that he he has a loud car and "unlimited money" from his ~$20,000 a year job. the thing i like about it here is people do what they want and dont do what "that guy on youtube with the tahoe where he makes the ladies eye pop out" does. everytime i mention car audio to someone whose not into it thats the first thing they ask if ive seen, "nope never seen a steve meade video....."
