Phuck you Costco

Just got back from Costco. Normally, I don't meat in bulk, but with inflation.....

So I take my allegedly 6.3lbs of ground beef and break up into 1lb portions to vacuum seal and the phuckers shorted me ~.5 lb. Calibrated the scale to make sure it wasn't me. Negative 5 stars for Costco.

I don't know if you have the freezer space or a quality butcher nearby...but I get a half cow once a year from one here...this year we paid the most but it was still only 4.65lb...plus the one I deal with gives you the side weight and finish weight just to be upfront with customers

I do have freezer space, but the only quality butch I know is pricey. I may have to do some research. I'm switching to low carb diet once we get thru all bread/carbs in the house.

Thankfully living where I live meat tends to be on sale all the times since it is a dairy state for crying outloud, lol.

We buy 10lb packages that are 80-20 or 90-10 when it is 2.99 a lb. Both come up for sale at different places around here so whoever has that percentage and that price then we buy even if we have some. Might as well with a 20 cubic ft freezer at my parents, 2 fridges at my parents plus mine and soon another freezer here. Cut it in 1lb packages of course.

Heck I had a steak last month that was 18 months old and freezer packed in Italian Dressing. As long as it is angus beef of course. Can pick up NY Strips for 7.99-9.99 all the time and porterhouse sometimes at that same price and when that happens we stock up on porterhouse angus steaks.

Lol I love Costco. Sucks but I bet if you went back they’d make it right. I eat a very carnivore heavy diet and buy lots of meat from Costco. Also pay attention to local grocery store sales. In my area winn Dixie has great sales on CAB and I usually buy whatever’s on sale because I don’t discriminate. Can usually get sirloin cap at $6/pp and skirt at $10 which is amazing. Buy the whole ribeyes and NY at Costco and steak them myself. Lucky my Costco also started selling prime brisket which has been fantastic on my Shirley🔥

Just picked up a side of steer. Processed weight of 245lbs, just under $7 for everything out the door, t-bones, brisket, sirloin, rib eye and very lean ground etc. I know the rancher and he only uses 1 butcher. You get what you kill, hung for 30 days etc.. Will always go local if I can.
Most of your store bought beef is mexican and brazilian beef. 80% of the beef you see gets sold out of country. I have 3 different ranchers I buy from and I learned a lot during the rona and even more about how beef is bought/sold.
