Are the Phoenix Gold Xenon amps all that they are cracked up to be. Can anyone give me some feed back on them. I was looking into picking me up a couple of the 400.1's

What do you mean "all they're cracked up to be"? They make rated power, do it cleanly and do it reliably (all except the first run, that is).

I have had mine for about a year and some change now. I have the 1200.1 on a 12 w7 and the 200.4 on boston pros up front and boston 6 1/2 in the rear. I have had no problems with them at all, built in fan as well. I say go for it, 1-4 ohm stable is fantastic for that price. edit: also comes with birth sheet, dont recall the exact number for the 1200 but i know it was more that 1200 and it was tested at 4ohms

those 400.1s are a deal but so are Kicker 400.1s...

Xenons are a crap shoot of what I would say is 50/50

mine broke in 5 days - flashing power lights.

They have a high failure rate and were a poor seller as is why they were discountinued -They tried to say it was only the early models that were ****ed up but they wasent the case it was the whole production up till about the end of 05

I wouldent even consider one today

They had a high falure rate for you, because you had the first batch! Pg had no way of knowing which ones were defective. In many cases stores had alot of the first batches on the shelves, and they were sold, so this is why it may have seemed that they were bad all the way up to late 2005, but I can guarantee you that the problem has long been fixed. So many of them were already shiped out, so thats why people were getting faulty amps. They now have a very low failure rate. They were discontinued because pg wanted to gain its rep back. Its not because the amps were still faulty. Since the first batch went wrong, people strayed away from them, and pg lost some loyalty.
