Phoenix Gold R8.0:4 issues?

I'm looking into replacing the Audiobahn 4 channel in the trunk, and I've been a fan of PG since I found out about their Xenon line. Pg also has a good review on here for being dependable and having underrated spec sheets.

I came across the R8.0:4, and while I know it is their baseline of amps now, the specs look good to me. The build quality may not be the best, but if it can get the job done with the good specs it has, and be reliable, I'm going for it. It has a nice S/N too, i believe 110 db

So has there been any reported negatives to this amp? Reliability issues?

the octane line is decent to me. more punchy then clarity if you ask me. it's reliable for the months that i owned one. gets slightly hot even with the gains down. what are you shooting for?

u should buy my mtx 4 channel off me... good amp and only 90 shipped honesty i think u would like it better than any of pgs newer stuff.... lemme know

See, I'm aiming for a 4 channel Amp, fairly cheap that has an S/N of 105 or so, and can produce 70 RMS with underrated spec sheets. I LOVE the D3400.4, but at 50 on spec, it probably only does about 60 benched.

So I can't find any quality amps with the specs of the D3 for the same pricetage, except for the PG. I know you usually get what you pay for, but PG has been known to be excellent per price.

Planet Audio has a good VX4004 amp, within my specs *I think*, but I cannot find dealers, prices, or enough specs on the unit.

look into some older profile amps.
