since my amp blew ive been looking to some other

choices... i want a good amp... my memphis was

used off my neighbor who now refuses to give me

the reciept to take it in for warranty... so this time

i figure ill get a new one...

ive been looking on ebay for NEW amps and ive

found a few that spark my interest...

the PG XENON seems a lot like the JL slash series

but is it a good amp???

there are also some orion amps the 1200D

and 800.2 seem to pop out...

ive also heard good things about soundstream

the EGA1400D or the 800.2VGA...

how about a viper 1200.1

or a planet audio tt1250???

all these amps are near the same price range...

can anyone vouch for any of them or at least

lend me an opinion on which i should grab...

it doesnt look like the RE 36.1 will be re-released

any time soon [i called already] and i need an

amp... i dont want another memphis... now all

of a sudden mine is broken and ive heard about

three other ones doing similiar things...

im running 2 12"SE's for now...

the guy told me that my subs were ok so until i hear

it ill have to go with that... the amp took a dump and

keeps going into protection over and over quickly...

anyways... im done with that thing... the xenon is on

ebay for 479 which is pretty much the highest ill go

on an amp... i dont need more power than that because

i will never upgrade the alternator and stuff like that...

i may get carried away from time to time but realistically

i dont see myself messing with the electrical...

the xenon is also cool because it works like the JL slash

covering all the ohms at the same wattage... so i guess

you dont have to worry about any future resistance conflict...

but please recommend... i cant buy the amp right

away so i have plenty of time to research...

I heard a PG Xenon earlier today at my homie's shop. It was the next smaller size mono amp, 800 watts i think.. It was pushing cerwin vega vmax 12S, which are surprisingly good subs, especially for the $$. I asked about the amp, he said that the rated RMS goes up from 800 with lower independences, the 1200 could put out closer to 1400 at 1 or 2 ohms. The installer said they are very consistent and reliable, a good high end amp. Thats about all I know, I didn't hear those subs with a different amp, so I cant compare it really. But the subs hit very hard and clean, and it came highly recommended by the installer. Looks really sick too. Has a refined high end look, really sharp.

i bought new PG xenon 1200 for $400 couple months ago on ebay. the next step down (monoblock) is PG xenon 600.

the birthsheet says 1215 @ 4 ohm. i've heard power increase if you wire at 1ohm. i can't comment on xenon 1200 because i haven't installed it.

however, i also bought and installed xenon 200.4. very nice amp.

I would put the full range to ch.3&4, and low pass on ch.5&6. The 6.1200 line out should be full range unless it has a dedicated x-over. In that...

It should be fine as long as you're not looking to upgrade in the future.

Its not a huge upgrade and I'd argue you likely couldn't tell the difference.
