pg x600.1

ok, i hooked up my phoenix gold xenon x600.1 today

just wanting to clarify its output and hookups..

it has two pairs of speaker terminals wired in parralel

i take this to mean if i hook up two 4 ohm SVC subs then the amp will be running in 2 ohm mode..

since the amp claims to have 600X1 at 2 ohm, how much power is getting to each sub? does it send all 600watts rms to each, or is it split between the two 300 each?

i am just wondering cause i was using a orion 4002 to power one sub with about 400 watts.. now with the x600.1 i am running two subs instead, but i have the gain 3/4 or more up.. i guess i just figured since it is cea rated at 600+ watts rms, that i wouldnt be able to run it that high.. it has very clean power.. and i am so far overall pleased with it, just thought i would have tons of power to spare, instead of running it nearly full tilt.

huh... i guess it is my bad then.. i thought that since the overall impedence of the subs combined was 2 ohm and the amp deos 600 X 1 @ 2 ohm, would mean that both subs would get the 600 watts... that sucks..

i set the volume to the loudest i listen to the system at, and then i adjusted the sensitivity to were the bass was hitting right..

Notice how it says the amp puts out 600 x 1@ 1-4 ohms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif That means 600 watts total power.. Now the birthsheets on them have read 800+

it is a mono amp.. it is only one channel..

it says 600 at 4, 2, or 1 ohm..

600 into 4 OHM LOAD

600 INTO 2 ohm load

i thought all i was doing was changin the impedence.. i figured it would put out 600 into the 2 ohm load, which consists of 2 4ohm svc's

i dont know, but it sounded logical.. sucks to find out now that it isnt that way.. i would have just bought another orion 4002, then they would both be getting 400watts..

however i think i read that even though the x600.1 has Xe-Load, it still increases its output in 2 ohm by a little over 100 watts.. so i should be able to get 350 rms to each hopefully? anyone know for sure?? my birthsheet doesnt look like the pic i saw posted on this site.. it just has a simple checklisy of tests that of course it passed,, and said CEA 2006 Power Rating - 612 watts.. i cant tell really its manufacturer date.. but it does say cea 2006 so i am guessing it was made within 06 or maybe late 05?? but who knows really

thanks

that reply is as clear as mud..

600 + @ 2 ohm.. so how much is each sub getting 600+ or 300+..

i got from your previous posts it is the 300+, but your last post confused me

What im saying is each sub will be getting roughly 300watts. No matter what ohm load you run it at.

no, the 1200.1 is $400

I SHOULD have bought a 2nd orion 4002 and ran each sub on its own 4002.. 400 watts RMS each.. would have been perfect.. but no..

so if i have a 200X2 amp at 2 ohm, and i have 2 dual 4 ohm voice coil subs.. each of the coils on the sub will only get 100 watts each?

i must be stupid cause i never knew that..

well in either case, it is not a problem.. this x600.1 must be a little underated, cause although i am higher on the gain that i thought i would be, i am still plenty loud and not maxed out..

i figure if it is splitting the power up, then it must be doing better then 800 in 2 ohm, cause they are just as loud on this amp, and both together are TOTALLY louder..

oh well, you learn something everyday i guess.. at least the amp is doing the job..

okay a few things:

xenon sheets on mono amps: throw that one out the window its not correct, all the xenon amps after the initial problems happend were re-qc'ed at pg. only the ones that went down the ms line got the new sheets. ALL of the x600.1's had soldering issues when arriving at pg. these issues are what limited the amps initial power ratings. once pg found and started fixing these before they were boxed to leave the amps consistanlt ALL TEST OVER 800+WATTS!!! period. if yours is reading 612 most likly it is in the 830+range. if it read 620 it would end up near 890 like the ones i have 879.6 and 896.4... there is no doubt period you have over 800 watts. parts ct wise when compared to the x1200.1 is very minimal, 2 fets, 4 caps, are the main differences. hell the 600.1 IS TECHNICALLY CAPABLE OF ABOUT 1700 WATTS+ with the right xe-load mod. this is not a good idea for daily use as they will over heat this way if run at 1ohm,, at 2ohms with xe-load bypassed the do about 1200 watts all day long mine we benched at 1192 @ 2ohms with the mod... we ran it for 6 hours w/ mo shutdown...

now #2: you will see LESS YES I SAID LESS POWER AT 2OHMS THAN AT 4OHMS when used normally at 4 ohms. this is the nature of xe-load. the power loss is minimal maybe 50 watts or so, so you are still near 800 watts...like i said your amp does 800+ it just didnt go down that line at pg to get the new sheets. the one you have were generic ones simply processed if the amp basically turned on and worked in korea...

thats awesome to hear.. sounds like you know what you are talking about.. and i already new it was doing more then 600, i had no doubt just by listening to it.. nice to know for sure though..

so far i am very happy with it.. i played it for a hour + straight tonite.. and it was barely warm.. i just cant get over the SQ..

i played with car audio after high school, but then i had kids + higher priorities.. recently i got started in again and thanks to reading on this website, i have made some pretty good choices.. and even though i have roughly $900+ invested in the last couple weeks, it sounds friggin amazing..

now comes the alarm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
