OK. Every three to four years, I build a new system for my new truck. Nothing to extreme, just an everyday system that sounds good. So, every three to four years, I try to reseach what might be a good product to use.
Now having done the research for the last week or so, I am under the impression that good american made amps are hard to find at a reasonable price. I am not building a new system this time but my front amp, a PG Tantrum 400.4, is on the fritz. There is a short in the gain knob and if i touch it ever so slightly, i get alternator noise and one side gets real loud and distorted.
Since they don't make these anymore, and i dont want to be without an amp if I were to send it to PG for repair, what would be a better than or equal to replacement? I have only a couple criteria. The power cables must be on the right side and RCA on the left. And the wife says we gotta stay under 300 bucks. I'd prefer American Made having had old school Hifonics, Linear power, Audio Art, Old Lanzar, and a few other old Zed amps. But I'm open to suggestions...
