lol, well i wish i could give it more but i cant :| 500w is the most i can give right now...
but at 500w its anything but quiet.

Edit: ****, a 1000w rms alpine monoblock costs 400 dollars!

I dont think ill be giving much more than 500w rms ANY time soon....

don't know what deals are going on now, but when I was looking a month ago, mtx ta7801's and 81001's were on sale for around $280 shipped

You could get a cadence TXA-1000D. Puts out 1000watts rms @1ohm. Its only $199. Looks pretty nice.

That sony amp is a piece of crap, and I highly doubt it puts out rated power. And good used 1000w amps can be found easily for $200-300.

I wonder why, if a high roll surround adds that much moving mass and loss of linear travel, why some of the best SQ drivers in the world utilize them?

The sony amp does output 500w and even more but i wouldnt call it clean past 500..

I have verified this with my DMM.

Anyway after spending all day with this sub i must say that it is amazing. I could not be more happier..

This is far better than an Alpine type R and is 100X better than a kicker cvr 12, a good combination SQL and SPL, i bought one of those digital DB meters and it capped out at 130; This is with zero bass enhancement.

i got the 10' with an mtx 1000D giving about 850 watt rms and it loves it all day long

even with about 950 to 1100 rms that mtx gives at 2 ohm never got any coil smel and the voice coil keep a temperature of 55c to 65c...so give it POWER!!

I have a little more fine tuning to do so i can get the most out of my amp, safely of course.

as dman4486 said, i am only getting just about 300w rms when im listening to regular music. I tuned the gain with a 50hz -3db tone and when i play that i get exactly 500w rms but when i play the music its lower than that. So i will tune the gain using a song with some hard hitting bass and i will see how close i can get it without causing the possibility of clipping for other songs / tones.

heh, that sony is not all that bad. I only paid 90.00 for it and it will deliver 500w rms. I will save up and get a nice 1000w amp.
