PG Cyclone on eBay....

seriously, I can't seem to picture this weird looking fan being able to make any bass...
Im with you. I dont have that many posts on here, but i am on here about everyday looking at the classifieds and whatnot. I understand how subwoofers work and i just dont get it.

Could someone break down how this thing works?

There is a lamens explanation on the PG website that might help ya. Its still basically a AC motor and a fan assembly.

Thanks for the info. I would love to get my hands on one of these just because it is so different. If this design is so good, why have others not followed in its footsteps? Ineffecient?

Thomas Danley the inventor of the rotary subwoofer has several pateneted subwoofers in production thru various other companies such as the Servodrive Bass 7 listed below, allthough this version is more of a rotary fan/passive radiator hybrid.

That question is asked and answered earlier in the thread.

I will give a simple explanation, I don't have a full technical understand of it.

First it is not a fan. The curve ramps, that look like fan blades are stationary. These play a part in the acoustics of the sub. Nothing in the sub goes in a full circles. If look closely at this picture, the verticle piece behind the clear plexiglass is a vane. The sub has two and is what moves. This vane oscilates with the voltage just like traditional sub expect its goes in semi cicular motion. This compresses the air in side the box and through the ramps and reproduces bass notes.

I recently just bought one. I haven't installed it yet or built a box for it. Its not SPL sub, but its supose to get really low (down to 11hz) and its supose to be a really clean SQ Sub. I have been told by other Cyclone owners that its low end output is equavlent to 4 12 or 2 18's.
Build a box and post a vid, NOW!!! or else.....
