what stuff might melt?

i did my tails, my 3rd brake light and the turn signals lights on my mirrors all pretty dark. never had an issue with cops, no issues with fading. definitely no melting of any kind.

the top two pictures make them look lighter and the bottom ones make them almost look black. it's just the lighting though, i didn't go back and make them any darker.

it took hours and hours of wet sanding and buffing with compound, then waxing to get them to look that good.

I did my tails and heads and have no loss in visibility and no melting of any kind.

Mine are about the same darkness as the one above.

yea, nightshades is what i used. nightshades, some clear coat and a lot or wet sanding, buffing, and waxing. but the end result can be very professional looking.

I used some tinted vinyl on my old blazer that turned out good. Again I had no problems with fading or the police.

did mine with nightshades sometime last year. so far it's held up perfectly. the thing i like aboud doing it yourself is you can acheive the shade of darkness you want. weather if you want it black or if you just want to smoke it down a bit. mines pretty smoked and the lights are 100% visible. i've never been stopped by cops or warned about them or anything. i have been stopped for speeding,running reds, and noise since the tints have been on and never have been mentioned about them. though to get them done properly, you need a lot of patience.... a whole lot of it....

Do you have HIDs? I BLACKED out my headlights, but I got upgraded 55 watt HIDs instead of the standard 35 watts HIDs. I also have my windshield tinted 30% At night its kinda hard to see ill admit. EDIT: All I did on mine was spray them no clear coat, no waxing, no buffing, or any of that I just sprayed 3 coats on took 2 hours to dry and called it a day!

I don't have tinted tails or headlights. Tinted tails would get me pulled over here real fast. I don't have tinted headlights either. I built some lights with a projector and painted the housings black. I have tinted corners and bumpers but I have custom LED boards behind them and they are way brighter than stock.
