People not paying taxes

I agree Ignatowski, the U.S. govt has a spending problem, not just an income problem.

But the problem with just raising import tariffs is 1) it will raise the cost of living for people in the U.S., and 2) at best it will help manufacturing only for U.S. markets. The U.S. needs to figure out how to compete globally in manufacturing. We have to make products people in other countries want to buy, at prices they can afford.

And our politicians need to stop spending money like there's an unlimited supply.

I'm a treehugger, you want me to go to Taiwan and China? Explain to me how I have ruined manufacturing in the US? With the EPA, because I want corporations to act responsibility? Because I want clean air to breathe and clean water to drink? Because I expect companies to follow OSHA regulations to protect their employees? Look at the asbestos industry in India, is that what you want?

a guy on wall street made 4 billion last year and paid 15% in taxeshis secretary made 50Gs and paid 33%....

Thoughts?
The secretary and likely dozens or hundreds of other people the billionaire hired directly or the thousands he indirectly created jobs for should be glad he gave them a chance to make money and have a job.

Ron Paul 2012 will be FTW.

Look at the booming economy in India, is that what you want?

Also, this country didn't have a personal income tax or Federal Reserve until 1913 and 1903. We didn't have an EPA, OSHA, Dept of Education, Dept of Energy, Dept of Agriculture, TSA, FDA, DEA, or trillions of dollars spent for foreign aid, and policing the world. We seemed to still do pretty good without them.

I can explain..........most of treehugging is not facts anyways..........but since you push for SUCH a clean environment you made it impossible to MFG in america

costing us jobs..........OK OK ALl the jobs are in China and India..........THEY DONT GIVE A FK ABOUT THE EARTH,,,,,,so instead of having a clean nation (america) making widgets you have these other countrys poluttings 10X more than we ever did libtard.. Our govt is too big as it is,dead broke and now we have no jobs...EPA,OSHA are good ? For who Workers Comp is the biggest scam of all time......

CHINA DONT CARE.........INDIA DONT CARE.........

1. If you don't pay taxes you shouldn't be allowed to vote

2. The voting system needs a HUGE revamp.. votes should be 1 for 1.. there shouldn't be this retarded voting system we have now..

3. If you don't have a high school diploma you shouldn't be allowed to vote

4. We need to stop giving out aid to other countries until we get our own shit in order.. has no one informed the president.. we are in DEBT! let china send help..

5. The welfare system needs a HUGE revamp.. there should be no FREE money going to anyone.. there are plenty of dirty streets, lawns needing mowed, etc that they could be doing..

If you don't pay taxes, you shouldn't vote.
shouldn't be allowed legally.. to vote you should have to bring your tax returns along with voters registration etc

So the guy who makes a million a year should pay the same as the guy who makes 20k a year?
on a percentage basis?
what he said

The rich evade taxes the most, yet have the most political power. Imagine being able to write off your yearly vacation on your taxes. Yeah that's what wealthy ppl do. I'm not mad at them either, they work the system so they can stay rich and everyone else can only dream of being on their financial level
the rich understand the system and work it to their benefit there is a difference.. besides the fact that most of them donate more to charity in a year than most do in a life..

You think that's bad? Bluechip companies take out hidden insurance policies on some of their employees so if they die they collect on the dead employee unbeknownst to the family. Now that's shady
A lot of shady employers do this.. Saw a special on it.. there is nothing illegal about it and If you think about it, it makes sense to do this.. It costs money to train an employee and long term employees that know the job very well cost a lot to replace to get a new person to that level..

imagine if you paid your taxes in one lump sum at the end of the year. that would really piss everyone off
I do this all the time.. Its the same amount either over time or lump at the end so why not make even $.01 in interest than give it to the gov't to throw away

SO your argument against a clean planet is that noone else cares so we shouldn't care either at least that way we can rake in more dough? Truly spoken by an intelligent person. You have the moral corruption to make for a fine political leader.

This is why I don't give a fvck about politics they aren't solving any problems. As long as you allow for a democracy there will be limitations to power, as long as there is limitations to power, maximum potential cannot be reached.

ya a dictatorship is the way to go right?

I didn't say that now did I simply pointing out problems, I offer no solutions...but at least I'm not dilusional and blaming "tree-huggers" which haven't existed in profound numbers since when the 70s?

The problem with pollution laws is, the balance between clean manufacturing, and maintaining a competitive edge globally, needs to be considered better.

Its great to have multi-million dollar scrubbers on our smoke stacks, but if that factory closes down and that manufacturing moves to China, those scrubbers dont help the environment one bit. The only way to make environmentalism work is to work on global laws. The only way we can leverage countries like China to mandate more strict environmentalist policies, is to be competitive with them, so we have the bargaining chip of mutual cooperation. If our laws are so strict we cant compete, China can do pretty much whatever they want. The U.S. being martyrs for the 'green cause' by letting our economy die isn't going to stop global warming.

Being competetive with China is impossible while they still have shadow contracts/high population/and work for dirt cheap IMO that solution sounds good but I don't see it ever coming into fruition. China is smart they are sticking to what they are good at...we should do the same. I know thats more of a financial argument than a green argument.

They work for 'dirt cheap' by American dollars. Obviously their $.50 a day wages (or whatever) are a living wage there. And from what I understand, factory worker's wages are considered good money there. The reason it seems so cheap here ($.50 a day) is because of the difference in value of currencies. Our govt controls what the dollar is worth, and hence what an hour's wages is worth here.

Our most obvious way to become competitive again, is to go high tech. But again, our govt run educational system is notoriously inefficient and underperforming, so we fail.

At least we are smart enough to 'tighten the belt' when times are bad, oh that's right we just raised the debt ceiling once again.

When are we going to wake up and realize Washington is bending us over every way they can.
