Anyone know what the tempature of my cpu should be?

its a amd duron 900 mhz.

seems like its running real hot and i am having sompc issues.

bios says its running at 85 degrees C.

i think at idle it should be around 50-60c, my computer doesnt restart though until about 150c or higher. just get a new comp cuz that one is shitty.

just pop a 120mm case fan on the back and you will have no more problems, trust me.

85 degrees is WAY too hot ... Is the fan working on the heatsink ?

yes both fans are working properly (one in back of case and one cpu)

will adding another fan help this?

85 celsius would be 185 degrees fahrenheit. If you haven't already.. I'd take the side cover off of your tower to give it some air. I'd also keep your pc off until you're able to buy a new fan.

airdust the inside. at 84 my laptop will shut off. usually its 50-60 the hottest it gets when im doing multiple thing for a long period of time is 74.

First and easiest thing to do would be to reapply the heatsink ... Detach the heatsink, sand it down, apply a thin film of thermal paste, and reapply the heatsink to the CPU ...
That costs practically nothing and may solve your problems ...

comp usa. the heat sync will be on the processer which is on the mother board.

ok i dont have acomp usa around here so i will go to a pc place i like to buy things from and ask for thermal paste.

he also said sand it down, what grit sandpaper would be appropriate for this app?
