You guys ever watch this show? It's like redneck "Antique Roadshow." Some of it is so obviously staged and is bullshit, but some tow truck driver just got paid to haul a "junk" car chassis off and brings it to the shop to see if he can sell it. Turns out it's an authentic '65 Shelby Cobra.

Expert says it's worth $60k. They gave the dude $30k cash on the spot.

I need to open a pawn shop.

Awesome show. I try and count how many times the old man says "The little bastard lied to me" in every show. So far the highest has been 5.

Well look at it like this, they can give you cash money on the spot. Sure it may be only 50% of what it's "worth", but its only worth more IF you can sell it for more.

I'm sure the market for 18th century signal cannons is pretty small. lol.

But yeah, the guy that sold an authentic shelby cobra was an idiot. He could have taken that thing to any high-end shop or car show and easily sold it for double what he got.

I do love that show though. Chumlee FTW!

Excellent show........

Tough business to own,you have to have loads of cash flow like the old man has

and balls of steel to not be taken advantage of buy scum off the street....plus

being in Vegas helps...The Pawn shops in Memphis **** balls

man I really hope that show isn't staged...I really like it and when I found out Operation Repo was fake it just ruined it for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Any time you 'sell' something to a pawn shop, you have to assume you will be receiving less money simply based on the convenience of having a buyer on the spot. All pawn shops work off this idea. A pawn shop isnt going to give you 80% of the value for an item, so it can sit on their shelves for, as an example, a year or two waiting for the right buyer looking to spend 100% of value on the item, just so they can make 20% (minus overhead).

lol, sorry man but I tell everyone I can...I feel like it's leading them on if they don't know. I don't know how I never figured it out considering the fact that there's a freaking disclaimer when the show starts that says the events are "based on real events". But yeah, once I found that out the show just got stupid. The acting is terrible, it wasn't bad when I thought they were just regular guys doing their job, but once I found out they were acting, it was like...ghey

Some of them are actual repo guys, but the big bald guy is a paid actor...which is why he keeps getting fired/rehired, it's just for drama.
