Okay, so here's what my little group is planning up....

(We'll I'm planning up and doing the work, they're just there to "play")

the two shocker 12's from the classifieds

2x viper 2500.1s to start - 1 ohm burps, hopefully around 3kw+ per sub

eventually, after getting some more cash, I hope to add two more 2500.1s (for a total of 4) strapped at 2 ohms getting 4500+ w per sub.

All of this is going to go into a VW golf. Vroom Vroom

These subs can handle atleast 3000w RMS for burps ATLEAST.... the guy i bought them from said 5000, and they oculd prolly do it, these are great SPL drivers, and there good for atleast 1100-1200 RMS music

the subs may very well be able to take it, but you wont see that power from those amps..

I think everyone is underestimating them a bit, but they arent a very strong amp compared to some of the other "2500 watt amps"...

also, im not sure those amps are even strappable? im not 100% but like the orions, they look like they are..but arent.

Id try to stick to a single amp if youre on a tight budget, rf 4000, z1, etc...simplifies things alot, letting you focus on the enclosure rather bs'n with multiple amps all the time.

If youre planning on doing it for a while, seriously..Id suggest getting the electrical system set-up first..atleast 8 runs of 1/0 and a nsb90/2150 etc..

8 runs was planned.

I guess I'll be looking into other amps. From everything I've seen they're strong and reliable. Not sure where all the negative-ness towards them has come from?

Also, if it does 2500w @ 2 ohm (assuming it makes rated power), why shouldn't it do near 3k at half the resistance, even for a burp?

Wait till you meet the devil.

His name is box rise.
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif  agreed! i had 2 viper 2500.1's runnin 2 L7 12's....those vipers sucked after a 5.7ohm box rise. around 900w out of each one...gay oh and they were wired to 1ohm each.

Box rise such as impedance rise? Is it possible to calculate/measure this rise or is it all guess and check?

Okay, so another amp is needed. What about the orion 2500's? 2500w@1 ohm but are they strappable? What kind of power is available at 1 ohm?

Also, what about the lanzar opti4000d? I realize it's a cheap amp but that's the beauty, it's cheap. 4000w@1 ohm. should do about 3300 at 12v if you don't calculate inefficiences / impedance rise.

if it is DB DRAGS street B that you are entering, how are you going to power those subs, the rules state, the car has to be off and has to run off of 1 battery, the one under the hood. 5000+ watts on a 12v, I do not know my a-- from a hole in the ground but I do not think that it can be done... If you can do it - more power to you, because I have had to scrap my plans for 5000+ watts in my car for street b
