Passport- Is it still hard to obtain within a month?

I'm trying to go to europe with my baby for a few weeks, and i never applyed for a passport before. Anyone have experience with getting one quickly? I figure 2 weeks would be plenty of time, if i can get it expedited that quickly.. Anyone with some advice? Also, anyone know where to get cheap tickets? We're just googling it for now, flight to germany for around 550. Thanks guys

if you want to do it soon then it can be done, just cost more. I think a month is reasonable though. But I don't exactly remember how long it took to get mine so...

It took mine about 6 weeks (non-expedited) when I got it about 3 months ago, but a friend of mine recently applied and got his 27 days later, so I guess it's all on timing. But if you only have a month, I'd definitly pay for the expedited passport.

i didnt pay extra and i got mine in 2 weeks (my girlfriend applied at the exact same time and hers took 6 weeks) so either mine got expedited accidentally or its just the luck of the draw. go to the travel.state.gov i think theres some paperwork you can fill out and still be able to go without a passport if you cant get one in time.

I was quoted over 400 smacks to get mine expedited for me and my fiance, but decided against it. Shit is expensive!

it took about 3 weeks to get mine and i didn't pay to expedite it.

mine took over a month to get, but i think it was getting near travel time so they were backed up.
