I'm'a 'tach a Parthenon to a 6.5" inch cone and run mids off it. Think it'd play down to 40hz with a 6 inch excursion? Better yet, just mill the end of it a little concave, I bet it'd play lower than the 2 inch mids I got now. Heee.

I've been told the Parthenon doesn't even do well until 200hz, care to elaborate, Steven? I blame idiots attaching 24" X 24" X 1" MDF sheets for cones, can you imagine how much work it'd be for a driver to push something that heavy?

First...it's a 48" x 48" I believe, but that's just what the driver has the capability of pushing, with 12" peak-to-peak excursion (16 cubic feet in one cycle). Also, it is in use if I remember right, used in auditoriums and high end theatres for the most part I think. Carries a hefty price tag, but is one hell of a driver I reckon.

I don't think it will play up that high flat. It does have a decent inductance due to the two sets of coils. It's pretty much good for about 70 Hz and down. But the down part is the impressive part as it will play frequencies that will make other subs cry.

First of all the designers of that sub are far from idiots. They thought the design through very thoroughly, enough to not use a 1" MDF sheet for the cone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Instead they used a 1/4" thick piece of aerospace composite that was very expensive. For those who have held it, they know it is very light but very strong.
