i asked my dad a question about my oil pressure gauge on my dash, his response was that my car audio ****ed it up. he only said it to be hateful against my hobby. he said it ****ed up my electrical system. he is an electrician. but, he was not being serious. now, if i need something, i buy it. i have a job, im 18. i go to electrical school, to become an electrician. i dont do drugs. i dont bump in neighborhoods, i usally turn it down at red lights. he asks like it some horrible hobby. the title says parental support, i dont mean money. i mean do they ***** everytime you buy something or, do something else to your car/trucks.suvs. my best friends dad helps him when he needs it, hes interested in it. now, im complaining that he doesnt help or isnt interested in it but, he doesnt have to ***** at me about it. how do your parents handle it?

my mom (only parent) actually doesnt mind. when i didnt have a car, she actually let me install all my shit in her car just so i didnt have go through withdrawals and as a result, she now likes it lol. its kind of weird hearing your mom come up the driveway bumping with your equipment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

that's more than typical. look at it from his side. it's alot of money, some people do annoy the neighborhood with it, there's technically better things to spend your money on, better things to spend your time on (like doing dope //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif ). he just doesn't get it. just ignore him and leave him to his opinions. it's just a parent thing.

THIS IS IMPORTANT!

Take everything that your dad (or parents) say negative about a hobby that gets you out of the house and doing something and write it in a book. Keep that book and when they get really old and you have to send them to a home (or are thinking about it) read the book. If its full, send them to a dump, if its not so bad.....maybe let them move in and be your own servants.

Mine hate it. They threw a fit when all I did was throw in a couple Type-S's in the doors.

They're starting to come to terms with it, and don't mind that I'm gonna be putting in my subs ina about a month, but they still don't support it all too much.

My dad helps me some, but that's just because he has ALWAYS wanted me to learn cars, and this is what's pushing me to do it.

Ah, and forgot to mention, my buddies and cousin, we could be causing trouble like we used to, but we don't now. Why? Because we're USUALLY working on our cars. Expensive hobby? Yes. But there are WAY worse things I could be doing with my time.

my parents dont care. my dad had a system WAY back in the day, untill my mom broke a 6 pack on his equalizer and fried all his stuff. he paid like 1000 for his system back then....

Mine are "meh." I graduated and got some money and they don't have any problems with me spending it on this. It's kind of a hobby, since I'm gonna do all the installing myself. Another thing is that neither of them really know whats going on. They are both know very little about cars, and my mom just generally freaks out when she sees stuff from under the hood (doing big 3 yesterday and today) sitting on the table.

yup. my parents dont understand either. Alot of my friends are out doing drugs and drinking all night long and what not. I work to make money all **** day and night so i can spend money on my car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

They dont understand what would happen if i didn't have a hobby like this...

i'm 31 now, so they obviously don't care. when i was 16 i replaced the radio in a 1963 ford uni-body truck that my dad and i restored. he was kinda angry that i replaced something stock that still worked on that kind of vehicle.

I'm in basically the same boat as you. My dads also an electrician and im an electrical engineering student. They think its a huge waste of money. But, its my hobby so they deal with it.

mine thinks all you need is a "boom box" and an upgraded head unit and the stock speakers are plenty. meh i make my own cash and its not selling dope or robbin old ladies so meh
