Paradoxes - Go!

Well, if he knew it wasn't going to be on Friday, then it being on Thursday would also not be a surprise. If he's still there Wednesday night, and he knows it won't be Friday, then the Thursday execution wouldn't be a surprise.
So, if Thursday was ruled out, and he was still around Tuesday night, the Wednesday execution wouldn't be a surprise, either. See how it works?
Nope. Simply not true at that point. He has assumed it wasn't friday. By the definition of your puzzle, if it were to now happen on friday after he assumed it could not would be a surprise. See the flaw in your "paradox"? It's not a paradox, it's just flawed logic. You can't logically say that because he knew friday wouldn't be a surprise, that by proxy monday morning first thing would not be a surprise.

Which is the point of the passage.

It's actually a paradox if you read into it, it's just hard to understand..I tried writing out an explanation but I can't lol
I love paradoxes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No. The point of the passage was that he ruled out ALL days, which you cannot logically do. Then by default he was surprised, when in fact ruling out ANY days means that he would have been surprised if it were that day.... which proves that it's failed logic and not a paradox.

Whatever you say, bud. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

it's a paradox because;

The fact he ruled out all days by using his faulty logic made it possible to surprise him on any day. Therefore Wednesday when he was executed he was surprised because of his logic.

It is a paradox
