Does anyone know anything about painting. Not like painting cars, but more like an artist on a canvas and whatnot.

I prefer art on a canvas vs. a print. I think prints are FTL, especially in the living room.

I am trying to paint, one...maybe two things. Could one do this for under $100?

I am thinking so...especially with paint colors.

The paintings on canvas that I like are ~$300.

What nG said. Just like any hobby. Good supplies cost good money. If you were closer, I'd let you come buy some basic supplies from my grandmother for cheap. She was a painter. Pretty good too. She is too old (or so she says) to do it anymore, but has hoards of supplies.

Indeed. If I had an ounce of artistic talent I would too. I know I couldn't paint shit though. If you are doing it just to save money like all your other decisions are based on, then walk on. Although if you do have a knack and are good, you can possibly make that money back selling them.
