Painting and Amp?

Im wanting to paint a couple of amps to match with a cars exterior/interior.

Does this hamper the amps ability to cool itself? Does it require a special paint?

Any other Ideas regarding this subject.

I'd rather get them powdercoated...less chance of the finish getting scratched or chipped in the future.

How thick is powder coating. Will it make the amp heat up?

Definetly powdercoat them, its more costly but its worth it.

Paint chips way to eaisly, ive can speak from past experiences.

Powder coating an amp will have no effect (or very little) on it's temperature.

I don't know off the top of my head how thick most coatings are, but it really shouldn't matter all that much - most amps are finished in this way, and any respectable shop is going to sandblast the metal down anyway.

Can they mix the colors themselves? Cause I know the name of the color I want.

Check with your local powder coater to see if they have any colors close to what you want. They should be able to special order in something from a color chart in a small quantity if you pay for it. Also automotve paint codes don't transfer to powder.

Another option is to have them custom annodized.
