Painting a bumper?

Alright my front bumper needs some work. The paint is peeling, but I'm not going to spend $200. for a top of the line job. Is it possible to get the paint code for the color of your car and had it made at something like lowes or no?

maybe not at lowes but u can usually order it at any automotive paint shop. If its stock it'll be really easy to match the paint cause all they have to do is look up the manufacture's paint codes.

Not at lowes, you have to go to a auto paint store. you can get the code and go there and most of them will put it into a spray can. The problem is you have a base coat- clear coat system on the car. I have seen at auto parts store where they are selling spray can base-clear coat paints now. Find a auto paint store and ask them.

The Base + clear is the 2 stage paint job, if u really just wanna go cheap they make different types of acrylic paints which is a base/clear mixed together, it's alot cheap but u don't get the same shine as u do with base than clear.

Unless you don't care how your car looks, I'd suggest getting a professional job done. You'll regret it in the future if you don't. There's really no shortcut to a good professional paintjob that will last. And don't go to Maaco =X

Not really, if u take ur time. Pre work is the most important part to a good paint job. Your gonna need alot of sand paper from 80-1,600 grit. Gonna need primer, than the paint (acrylic or base + clear) some tack rags, masking tape/paper and alot of time. IF your just doing touch up u probably wont need primer. If ur fixing small bumps and dings ur gonna need a good body filler too.
