OZ Audio

Hello,

I'm new to this site and am hoping to get some advice from all you car audio nuts! I used to compete in SQ competitions through USAC(i) and IASCA about 7 years ago, and I'm looking to get back into competitions. I just purchased a Stone White 2006 Dodge Charger SE 3.5 and plan on doing a fiberglass installation by myself. I have done some work with glass, and I'm friends with a guy who co-owns a car audio shop and he provides all I need for glassing.

The products I currently have that I'm planning on using in my setup are: Panasonic 7200 DVD head unit, Orion DEQ-30 equalizer, Kicker XS100 & Kicker ZR240 amps, Phoenix Gold 15-farad cap, P.G. DD10 Dist. Center, two yellow-top Optima gel-cells, and most wiring.

The products I need are basically components, subs, and a high-perf alternator.

I'm thinking of using OZ Audio Matrix Elite for my components and subs. I was checking out the 180 series for components (tweet & 6.5" mid) and two 12" subs. I was hoping to use a ported box for higher SPL, but don't want to lose any SQ.

If you have heard OZ Audio products or have any recommendations for me please let me know through a post or a P.M.

Thanks

I'd recommend picking up a crossover if you dont already have one and going active:D in favor of using components or rebadged subs

Heres what id do:

Front Stage (crossover around 1400-1600hz and 80hz)

(2) Usher 8945Ps http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=296-602&CFID=5913457&CFTOKEN=89975136

(2) Peerless 810921 HDS 1" dome tweeters

-or-

(2) Seas 27TBFCGs (good alternative)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8740366.29473&pid=1005

Substage

(2) TC-1000 12"s:D in an Infinite Baffle trunk install

Audiophile quality loudspeakers at a low price

I'd also recommend ditching those kicker amplifiers and buying something with some muscle. The *sound quality* phenomenon associated with amps is self inflicted on yourself...and higher performance from amps is actually achieved by going with higher headroom (more power is always better, but make sure you're getting actual power not bloated numbers).

The Usher 8945P has a 84.68dB efficiency and the Peerless 810921 has a 93dB efficiency...needless to say the Usher is going to require as much power as you can throw at it and not so much for the Peerless (about 6-8x less). I'd recommend ~150-200 watts for the 8945P for headroom purposes (although 50-75 would probably be fine, you are going to be pushing your amplifier to the limit and incurring its distortion ridden wrath if you choose to tread that path)

You're also going to need a quality crossover, which you could probably achieve by purchasing a Pioneer P880Prs or something on that order (24dB filters are nice) or if you'd like to keep your deck than consider purchasing a Behringer DCX2496 and running it off a small inverter. The behringer is cheap and is an absolutely incredible and irreplaceable item in your setup.

You can get one here
