how did i get the wrong ohm for the amp? i could wire them up parallel and it would have a 4ohm load? so if it has a 4ohm load, that means each sub would get 500watts each? or what?
You can wire the two subs down to 4 ohms, this would give them both a total of 500 watts.

no such thing. you can never blow a speaker as long as the speaker doesn't see frequencies it isn't supposed to see and that the amp is not getting excessive clipping. if you avoid those two, most of the time you will never blow a speaker.

^^^ohhh, i always heard this and that about blowing speakers and stuff. and it has always been about the sub getting more watts then thier RMS. thanks for the info and thanks everyone for your help. your helping out a n00b right now to car audio.

So my old kicker solobaric rounds could take 10,000w as long as they were bandpassed hp 50 lp 40 (to avoid any unwanted frequencies) and play fine?

I refuse to believe that.
Show me a video of a radioshack sub taking 10Kw under the circumstances that you just provided.
lol. tell me how its gonna blow? the reason being so many people blow their speakers is the reasons stated above. thats how i blew my tweets. easy, i could hook up a 10kw sub to any speaker and won't blow. i'll have the volume at 2/80 with the gain down. i just proved it. READ.
