amp draw

im looking into high output alternators for my car, and wondering if i should get a 170 amp or 200 amp (about a 150 dollar diffrence) i was wondering how many amps an orion 2500d will draw? i head they're very power hungry

is there another ~2500 watt amp i could run that'd be more efficient than that, im looking to run around that power in my next setup

the viper 2500.1 looks like another solid contender, any input on that?

im also looking to do a yellow top and big 3. however my car already has a little trouble starting on a very cold morining, maybe that's true with all cars, and it has done that way before i put a system in. Should i consider a red top instead?

i know this wasn't really an amp question. but just some general questions that i'd like some input on.

thanks alot

Joe

they're very similar amps, owned by the same company. Power's very similar, efficiency's similar. Fact of the matter is if you're looking to run 2+Kw and pound once in a while you're going to need a big alt.

$150's a pretty big difference for 30A, but if it were me I'd be thinking 200A just to be sure.

I don't think you need to spend $100+ for a decent battery. My $60 Walmart everstart is 6 yrs old and still working fine.
