Over/Under

Ok I'm probably going to end up getting 35 or 40 watt speakers in my truck.

Since the head unit puts out 21 watts RMS, will there be any noticable distortion or lack of sound quality because of the under-powering?

And when I go to get an amp, I want to get a JBL P80.2. If I got 35 watt speakers, would over-powering each speaker by 5 watts hurt them? Its peak handling is 105 watts.

You should be fine with your amp choice , The speakers run just of the Hu may be a little less than desirable than with the amp ! Lower line/cheaper speakers with more efficency may be the way to go if you are not geting the amp

ok I've basically convinced myself on getting four Infinity 40 watt speakers and powering them with a jbl P80.2 amp...

I just don't know how in the world to hook it up... Or if it's even possible...

Can anyone complete this diagram?

Your best bet in your truck would be to get a decent set of components for the front and not worry about the rear , I belive you could fit 6.5's in the doors

If you ran all 4 off the one 2 channel amp you could not fade the front to rear and you probably would not hear anything but the rear speakers , Those are in the b pillar in the back correct ?

there are no speakers in the doors so I've gotta worry about speakers... and the thing is I might not get my subs for a while, so I wanna get a good sounding well-powered speaker set up that will last me for a while...

Better

What's gonna sound better?

No amp with a 35 watt speaker powered by the head unit (22W RMS)...

No amp with a 25 watt speaker powered by the head unit (22W RMS)...

depends on the speaker and sensitivity. say both are the same barnd/model but one is rated at a higher RMS. given both the same wattage, they will sound the same. now if you're taken them to their limits, the one that is getting 35 watts will sound better/louder .

The higher the sensitivity of the speaker the more efficient it is , You could get a 93db speaker in a high line model also , If you are looking at speakers this is what you need to look at if you are planning on running of the head unit get a very efficient speaker , Cerwin Vegs are know to be very eff speakers , But im sure there are many others

i was refering as if they were the same model (usually bigger size of the same model has the same efficiency or higher)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm looking at Infinity's that are 35 watt with a sensitivity of 92db... That's pretty efficient right? (Being that it's only like 21 watts aways from my head unit's RMS power)
