so i was just reading in here that 500 watts is to much ported for my type r's --is this true???and dont laugh but do you guyz think my sony xm-d1000p5 puts out 500 rms????

500W is on the very edge for the 12" Type R's in a ported box.

Its too much for 1, but you say you have 2..... so you are thinking of giving 500 total to both of them? In that case, 250w to each is fine.

I have seen 500W pushed to a single Type R ported. He ran them that way for months and they still are going strong.

Turn it down to like 400....that seems to be what people say. I am a Type R owner, and sealed they handle a ton, but ported, every1 says give them 400.

well if u have two subs, and you have them hooked to one amp, you will have half the power to each sub.
