Very loud subs but they like huge boxes. If the price is right.....go for it!

I have an HCCA 12D that I am about to rebuild the box for. Original was 2.25 with 4X12" port as specified by Orion. It played incredibly loud with decent SQ. Another user recommended a bigger box 2.5 tuned to 31hz instead of 33 and with my 1200 watts using a much larger slot...36-40" area to get a bit better SQ and a lot more SPL with the bigger port. Can't wait to get cracking with a pencil!!

Edit - seems the 15" likes boxes bigger than 4-5cu/ft. 10 and 12 aren't too big.

RMK - what size box (tuning and port too?) did you run and how did they sound for the 15?

i got a 15d. look in the sig. i think i had roughly 45in^2 port area. i loved it shook my whole car. the only sad thing is it didn't want to play much over 50-55Hz. i'd of loved for it to hit up into the 60's, at least. other than that great SPL sub, hit real hard, real low!!!!

I've played with countless hcca's and the loudest (to my ears) was 5.5 cubes tuned to 34-35 hz with about 60sq inches of port

Back when I was really into it....I did a drop in test with my hcca 15 and my xxx 15. Same box, same amp(s), same everything and with 1200 watts the hcca was a full db louder. With 2400 to each it was still louder but not as much. This was on an audiocontrol sensor at a local shop
