I am asking in this forum anyone who profoundly knows enough about the

Notorious "CHEATER AMPS" such as ORION. I am about to purchase a refurbished orion from their factory. My frineds 75W X2 @ 1 ohm with DVC subs. HCCA hits at 147 db in driver seat. Enough sound to make you un-capable of breathing properly due to change in atmospheric pressure.

Im thinking about buying a far more powerfull HCCA from orion , 450$ refurbished as my friend did, But other than a great experiance cruisin in his jeep, and for 2 years of no problems at 1ohm stability to this day pounding SPL, I am going to go a bit harder .

Has anyone used or bought an HCCA from ORION and used it .. Epinions who used the amp, has nothing but 5 star reports.

BTW audiobahn lovers, try a lanzar heritage with your audiobahns //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And try to smoke a ciggarette in your car with windows up. Feel the complications of inhaling.. LOL..

Anyhow Orions american made and very very expensive. But, CHEATER amps are not accepted in ICSAA comps anymore ... or am I wrong ?

ANyhow, whats someoens opinion here ???

which hcca do you speak of, i have a 250 g4 and a 275 g4. they are both stable down to 1/2 ohm stereo. I would reccomend running any hcca daily at 1 ohm, the 275 does a fair bit of power there, rated 1200, probably does around 1400-1600.

The hcca's are 1/2 ohm stereo stable, but its the same power at 1 ohm mono (600x2 or 1200x1 rated). Remember they are class a/b amps, and they will eat up a fair bit of juice, so without an ho alt, or at very least the big 3, i wouldnt try to push an hcca daily at even 1 ohm. The hcca's will hate grouse if you starve them for power. Also you ::must:: run a 275 to the battery twice, which is also a consideration, thats alot of power wire.

i dont know if that helps at all, just giving you a heads up on the hcca's great amps but they get pissy if you dont treat them right.

you need to do some cardiovascular excercising if you cant breathe at 147 dbs....

Im looking at an ORION class D

ORION" Class-D Mono 1000 watt XTRPRO 2000 watts max.

is what im looking into buying due to A/B current draw .. I want efficiancy..

ABout how much does a High powered alternater cost ??

Now, the ORION" Class-D Mono 1000 watt XTRPRO beign a class D is far more efficiant than a class A amplifier. However , with this being said ... I am in lack of knowledge about ORION.

Im concearned with # 1 . Sound Quality

In addtion #2. Reliability

With an Extra batter, I am in question, as to an additonal battery being wired.. Do I simply run the needed guage in parallel from battery under the hood to the batter in the back ?? with a 5 farad capacitor in the trunk to make things run smooth ?

Also , yes 147 Decibals ... Made it painfull in the car... You could breath.. but it was not comfortable inhaling . I never felt sound do such thing to the body , but made my ears ring , throat feel smaller, and breathing was far more difficult. Not to mention a punch in the back every time the bass hit.

lets not make this an arguement, because I know what I felt, and if you havent felt it.. then your experiance being inside a vehicle with such system is a personal lack you may want to discover.

Nah dude, there's no need to get defensive. Alot of people on this forum are used to daily listening to stuff at or above 147dbs, what you find extraordinary others might find just plain cool.

Don't want to be an ***, but many people have heard a 147dB system. The 147 was probably on a tone...this is not an indicator of the SPL you witnessed and for that reason, you didn't hear a system THAT loud.

I'd be willing to bet it wasn't hard to breathe, but I would accept the fact that it made your ears hurt a little.

Yah Im not one to get defensive , we should all be helpfull in hear, and maybe its because I was lookin at the SPL meter .... and smokin northern lights jammin out when he cranked it up made me all paranoid watchin that meter climb to 147db so fast seeing it peak 152 and another song wouldnt hit as hard etc.. but that one song hit crazy. So maybe was just me, I didnt like being in there smokin having that thing hit me... and yes , anyone who smokes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif take a big inhale with a system hitting that hard and watch how fast you wanna let it out.

I later did research on decibals where I saw pain threshold at 130DB's + and figured the 147 was cause of it.

Anyhow, this is not the focus of my post... Im wanting awsome power delivered

from an ORION , and am asking if an ORION is worth the money. Or should I buy a cheaper amplifier and get the same quality ?? an Audiobahn amplifier suppose ???

An Orion 2100 HCCA is a very nice amp and it will produce around 1600 wrms @ 1ohm mono with peaks around 2000 watts. The problem is that to make that power it pulls around 200 to 220 amps of current, but they are undeniably power houses. I know this cause I used to install these when they were made
