so i have an old 1998 orion extreme 1000 that is making a thump sound . i called around and it seam that is a capacitor that is going out .. i guess it would cost around 100$ to fix ,

now what do you guys think is best , i found a orion hcca 2400 for 300$ should i just buy a new amp or fix my old one . the old one is a very nice good sounding amp but needs to be fix and the new one well works just fine ..

the old one is 1000 rms and under rate like most good old amps the new one is

400 rms @ 4 ohm and i think 800rms @2 ohm . please help me out . or if you have had this problem before and know how to fix for cheaper or know of a place that will do a good job let me know the price i got to fix it was a place that orion them self gave me the number to

If you have some basic electronics know-how and an adjustable soldering gun, replacing capacitors is EASY!

As for me buying any of the DEI Produced Asian build house Orion amplifiers.... You couldn't give me one of them! I would buy a Hifonics BXi series amplifier before I would run a free, post DEI, Orion and I am not crazy about Maxxsonics either!
