Orion 25th Anniversary Edition

yep, im slow:crap:
i don't know why they don't just post #s that are in line with actual output, hell for that matter, lower! Get back to impressing their clients
It is the numbers game. You know, the same thing that the craigslist kids tout when you try to sell a true 1000 watt RMS amp. They always come back and say my Pyramid, Legacy, Crunch does that and is way cheaper than your amp:verymad:

Unfortunately they are owned by DEI. Sadly, even when ADST had the Orion name, they were going downhill. The G4 HCCAs were not that bad, but the G5 HCCAs had a HIGH failure rate when run @ 1 ohm and some would even catch on fire.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
I don't want an amp catching fire in my car.

they are playing to the wrong crowd:crap:

I miss their OLD power rating scheme where they rated the amp at 11.8 or 12 volts with ultra low distortion figures AND the number printed on the amplifier was the MINIMUM RMS that would come out of it. Good job DEI at taking a legendary name, and slapping it on your run of the mill, overseas build house amp, all in the name of PROFIT.

Sucks man, It really does... I hate it

Its a shame they went and made two of those amps "class D", that hardly seems to be any way to celebrate their once great reputation of class A/B amps from their pre-DEI days.
Oh, but John Durbin @ DEI will argue with you until the cows come home as to how GREAT the new Class D amps are when compared to the original HCCA Class A/B amps:verymad:

He is a little full of himself because he believes that DEI rescued the Orion name from the sinking boat it was in.

Sounds like he's thinking more as a businessman than as an enthusiast.

Class D is probably much cheaper to make, so he's making excuses about their sound quality because theres more profit in them compared to A/B amps.

I think we have had this discussion before //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But on a side note I would own no dei stereo related product. Ever. I agree they are crap regardless of the topology.

I will stick to their alarms and remote starts and by-pass modules though.

sure about that?

Yes cost is probably a factor but doesnt out weigh the benefits of class 'd' for subwoofer duty. Especially on a name like Orion that was once nice but is merely a name brand.

We had this argument yesterday, lol. As for DEI, my brother has a Directed Audio 1500D, it seemed solid, but something is messed up with the remote turn on now, it seems to stay powered on. Also, it uses the same amperage fusing as my Sundown 1000D.
