im pretty sure about this, but its ok to run it at 8 ohms right?

im abnout to hook up my eclipse aluminum dvc 4 ohm sub to hold me over til my new sub comes in. this sub is rated at 500 watts i believe so i dont want to blow it. im assuming the orion would put out somewhere around that at 8 ohms.

ive never heard of running amps at higher ohm loads of damaging them but then again ive never really looked into it either. common sense says though that it would only damage it if i went below the min ohm load since its putting more stress on the amp.

oh, smelly coils = moar deee beeez.

figured as much. i just set the gains assuming i would get about 600 watts at 8 ohms and it seems fine.

common sense? you're wrong.

it's actually the exact opposite. higher impedance = less stress. lower impedance = more stress. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

edit: i misread his comment, i missed some words.

no.. YOU said that.

edit: woah. hold on. i missed the word 'min'.. hahaha. sorry bro. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

stupid?

you're the idiot that couldn't simply look at the ratings of the amp..

& make a common sense call whether your sub rated at 500 rms could take 600 rms or not.

AND you didn't know if you could wire to 8 ohm.. wtf.

YOU are the noob.

at least i know how to read

and where did i say i didnt know my sub could take 600 watts. ive ran almost 1000 to it on a daily basis and would do it again, except i cant get that much power out of this amp at the ohm load i need for the sub. and please show me where the ratings of this amp show the power output at 8 ohms. im simply guessing 600 is what it puts out as it seems to be a conservative number to prevent me from clipping the amp and blowing my sub.

AND whats wrong with simply double checking yourself before you do somehting youve never done before with people who probably have done it. ive never needed to run an amp at that ohm load before and simply wanted affirmation.

if all that makes me a noob then i guess i am. in the eyes of a 13 yr old punk such as yourself who lives on teh internet

i mean, it's pretty common sense. you can look at the rating at 1, 2 & 4 ohms & take a guess.. just like you said.

nothing wrong w/double checking.. if you don't know in the first place.

but yeah. i just misread, apologize for that.

this whole thread is just a common sense question. all i'm sayin'. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

& live on the internet? i'm pretty sure later today i get to go to a competition & watch all the recent installs i've done compete later today.. i musta built their boxes in sketchup & done their installs via interwebz.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Ive seen so many amps done this way over the years. Especially ones that had the Molex plugs and a couple others

Yes, they do. As for the Taramps remote control, it is for use with the EQ they sell, not as a remote bass knob. They are not very sophisticated...
