Orion 2500d and 15+volts

i just put on an HO alt w. external voltage reg. and i turned it up to 15.4 volts....

now my Orion clips and cutts off....so i lowered my voltage back down.. Whats Safe to run to the 2500d?

sorry dont mean to jack your thread but im curious, is that all you need, a good alternator and a power regulator? how expensive are the regulators? are they alright for daily driving at higher voltages? it only supplies higher voltage to the stereo right, not the entire electrical system?

i believe at 15.5, it won't even turn on.

it needs to be modded to run above 15v, it may also need a 12v remote signal(i'm not sure about this)

best to ask spkrman or typeRbass, they both run modded 2500d's

it supplies the entire electrical system... good for comps. i wouldn't exceed 15v for daily, other wise you will be replacing mucho bulbs... trust me, i know

depends on the alt. some have internal regs while others have external (alot of ohio generators are external). depending on the car you really dont need to run it past 15 v if you have a standard 12 v battery anything above 14.5 v can hurt it. what alot of people do is add an ohio gen alt as a second alt set at a higher voltage to run higher voltage batteries to keep things isolated from the rest of the vehicle.

what he said. I've seen them run at 17v. Its not smart to run them at 15 for daily.
