Orion 2100HCCA True Power Output??

alright, i was thinking about selling this amp of mine. Im now thinking about using to push 2 15" BL's. Im wanting to know the true power output it has. I know the following, and that its rated at 12.2v...

Stereo:

200x2@4ohms

400x2@2ohms

800x2@1ohm

Bridged:

400x1@4ohms

800x1@2ohms

1600x1@1ohm

Of course more at 14.4v

Will this amp run at .5ohms stereo and .5ohms bridged? I have heard yes from a number of people. I was told it will do 1600wattsx2@.5ohm stereo and 2200+watts@.5ohm bridged?

Im wanting to know before I purchase another amp to power the subs im looking into getting, why do it if I can use this one...Thanks for the input...

Better have a super stout power supply, lots of amperage, and at least dual batteries, plus probably an additional fan to cool that monster then it may be possible.

Big three and 1/0 gauge wire for power and ground will also help.

It will keep producing power if you can steadily supply the juice!

Alright, yeah i figured that out. i know the current draw is gonna be stupid. I might just keep it running at 1ohm stereo and put 1 15" BL per channel. Should keep it around 1000watts per channel if I keep it at steady 14.4v.

I would use the 2100 over any Class D based amplifier they just sound stale and lifeless to me. Class A/B all the way! I don't give a crap what anyone says I can hear the difference between the two classifications pretty easily.

I have had friends use the 2100 HCCA in place of the DEI Orion 2500d and it seems to hit harder and be louder even though the wattage rating is less. They are built to take that kind of punishment and best of all last.

Good on ya man for going old school even though they are current and power hungry hogs, as stated as the impedance drops so will the damping factor. See if you can find a Concept 97.3.

I have looked for one, but no luck...

Im just debating wether I want to put up with all the electrical issues ima have to deal with.

I was thinking use this for 2 15" BL or get another NINe.1 and run one sub of each own NINe.1

That sir, is one fine old school amp. It'll do .5 ohm all day long and it's also (one of the only) amps stable at 2 ohms bridged. As mentioned already be prepared to upgrade your electrical system.

I highly recommend holding on to that amp even if you don't use it as they're getting quite rare. If you do decide to sell it IM me...

i would get a amp clamp from lowes or something and hind out what kind of power it realy does their is no way a amp with 2 60 fuses can produse 1200w being a class A/B i think this amp does 1200w max and about 1000w rms clamp it and find out i bet that is all you will get

yes i do i have been a orion guro for about 12years it does amazingly clean power but the old school amps of the late 90s were not effecient (65-75%) i had a orion HCCA 2100 replaced the fuses with sollid copper tubes and i had 2 interstate megatrons under the hood it was loud wired 1ohm mono but it pulled somer serious current and wasnt as loud as 2 audioart 100hc amps which were benched to do 1186w rms each static load @ 1ohm

like i said get a amp clamp and dmm and figure out the output a/v and you will be sad to know the truth it is going to be roughely 1000w at it best wired @ 1ohm mono
