Is the Optima Yellow Top D35 with 810 crank amps/650 cold cranking amps a good battery to replace my bad battery under the hood? I drive a 1996 Camry with a 80 amp stock alternator, Kicker ZX 750.1 amp, 2 Kicker CVR 12s. My current battery is an Everlast with 630 crank amps/525 cold cranking amps.

optima sucks I have them just because I got the employee discount. I would never pay a retail type price on them rather get any other good one like odyssey or kinetic even just a bunch of taped together double A's

do the kinetik hc batteries work for under the hood?

Optima is not that bad.

I would guess that Optima still outsells all the other 'car audio' batts combined. Though I'm not saying that makes them better.....

But I would buy a rectangle batt personally. More surface area = more power.

The price alone would make me stay far away from the Optima battery. Even if they were the same price as other brands, I would still choose the other brands due to better performance and better build quality.

Here is a short list of better brands to choose from:

Kinetik

Deka

Stinger

Odyssey

XS Power

ive been running the same redtop optima now for almost 6 years without a problem. (under the hood) i have been using the same stinger spv35 on the diffrent amps for about 4 years with no problems. i used them both in a 97 s-10 to run an mtx81000d and fosgate 4ch, then in a bronco on the same amps and now in a nother s-10 but on a fusion nvam25001 and the same 4ch.

some people have good luck and some dont with certian batteries.

i vote for the optima.

So pay twice the $$ for an Optima is your advice? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I have 2 C&D tech batteries, that will walk over an optima any day, and I got them for a great price. No complaints here. With all that said, optimas are decent, and reliable, but they come with a hefty price tag for what they are.

dont know how much you pay for one but i got mine for $110 new where as a stock style battery from, lest say autozone, was about $90. so i guess what iam saying is shop around and if you can find a good deal on an optima battery then there you go.

on that note, i have a duralast gold in the wifes car thats 4 years old and has been running the 81000d for 2 of thoes years with a stock alt and is still going strong so thoes arnt too bad eaither.

iam just offering my opinion, and the fact that i have had very good luck with my optima and am still very happy with it all most 6 years later.

The guy at the stereo shop tried to sell me an Optima Yellow Top Hybrid for 190. Is the hybrid the same as the Optima Yellow Top? I know I could find one online for cheaper.
i think the hybrid is a deep cycle/starting/heavy duty all in one type battery.

look into stinger or kinetcik(sp?) as well, they make some good power for size batteries as well.

You can make a battery to do very specific things, but a deep cycle battery will never be as good as a starting battery for burps. A starting battery will never be as good as a deep cycle for daily.

There is no such thing as both in one battery. You either have thin plates (starting) or thick (deep cycle).
