as the title says, what are your opinions/experiences with elemental designs 7kv.2 small subwoofer? anyone have any first hand knowledge? I tried search, but not too many results came up. other suggestions for a 6.5" sub are welcome, If you think you know of a better alternative. planning on installing them in the rear speaker locations in my new 08' TT that is due in next month. (I will be deadening and making a baffle, the space is essentially a small enclosure)

TIA

how so? fq response, power handling?? other?? I have heard about TB but no exp with them, are they any good? and also looked at the CDT M6's. those were pretty much the only ones I could find, other than the JL 6W0.

I can speak from experience since I've had both the ED's and the Tang Band.

The ED's sounded decent but bottomed out waaaaaaaaay too easy. I was sending them 150RMS each in a ported box. I currently have the Tang Bands and am much happier.

I didn't know eD made the 0 in a 6.5". Ill double check their website.

really? these will be essentially in a sealed enclosure, but I will be sending them 150w rms. since you have heard both, can you describe the diff between the kv.2's and the TB's in terms of fq response and sq, smoothness etc?

Thanks for the input, keep it coming, the TB's are sounding more like a winner........

edit:

the TB's seem a little low on the power handling, shoud I be concerned, or are they underrated and can handle more power than the spec suggests?

I actually have tried the ED's in both individual sealed enclosures and a single ported one. I could bottom out the coils very easy off 150RMS to each. I don't really think I've bottomed out the Tang Bands yet. Both will get low so don't worry about that.

I think I can say with certainty that the Tang Bands are much quicker and more accurate...let me explain.

In a bass drum hit two sounds are made. The first being the sound of the mallet/ball thing hitting the plastic drum face, and the second sound is the bass the drum makes displacing the air. Obviously the higher sound of the plastic impact is reproduced by the components and the subs take the bass. With the Tang Bands the two sounds are reproduced as if they are coming from the same speaker with perfect timing and no delay. Their tone matches my Focal components perfectly.

You should be fine running that sort of power to them. I think there was another guy on here running close to 1k RMS on 4 of them for a while. I currently have 4 in my trunk in a 1 cube sealed box getting 75RMS. I think that the can do even better ported //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

Thanks, that description was very helpful, as far as describing the response. I listen to a pretty big variety of stuff, from mainstream rock/pop, dance, classic rock (Rush etc), jazz, even Yello. sounds like I would be pretty happy with the TB's. I think I'll try them, and worse case, If I don't like them I can always try something else since there not exactly expensive.
