opinion on my kinetik hc2400 problem???

i just got done charging my kinetik hc2400 battery back to 13+ volts and when i took it off i noticed it was making this whining sound...?

Is that normal for a battery after its been charging very/too long?

Or is my battery fcked?

if you charge an agm cell too long it may vent. i would contact kinetik and see what they say.

Your charge voltage was too high, or the ambient temperature was too high. 14.9 volts is the maximum those batteries can be charged at, beyond that they start to cook. (evaporate the electrolyte, which escapes the one way check valve in gas form)

Hook your charger/alternator up to the battery and measure the voltage between the terminals. If it is charging higher than 14.9, you are cookin' up some AGM battery for dinner.

Right from the Kinetik website.14.4v

MECHMAN was about right.

13.1 or so is good for a healthy AGM battery.

BTW, Kinetik's literature says 14.4V safe charging voltage because they are trying to be conservative to prevent warranty returns. Overcharging is the #1 killer of AGM batteries.

The Kinetik brand battery charger charges higher than 14.4 volts, LOL.

As long as you keep it below 14.9 you'll be OK.

Yes, but if you put your DMM accross the terminals with the charger hooked up, it will charge anywhere up to 14.8 in the first stage of charging. It doesn't fall down in voltage till the battery is about 75% charged (seccond stage)
