I'm looking to get an amp that can do at least a solid 1500rms @ 1ohm, came upon this Power Acoustik and seems like a great deal for only $200 from ikesound.com

Has anyone used this model or a similar model before?

Let me know what you think

Hell for $200, you could get a used amp that does WAY better.

An AQ 1200D is only $189 & I've heard great things about them & that they put out more than rated power.

Ya those Hifonics are decent, everyone uses those.... I've installed a 1206 in a friends car powering a couple type R 10's. It pushed them decently. You think it really puts out 1500rms though? I thought they were underrated by about 200watts or so? I'll have to look at benchmarks.

I'm looking at getting one of the below choices which all can handle 1500rms, they will be going in a 4th order bandpass ported through the rear deck of my lexus...

(2) 10" RE SE's (1st choice)

or

(1) 12" SSA XCON

(2) 10" Eclipse SW8300's

(2) 10" Mach 5 IXL's

the mach 5 wont wire to 1 ohm, you will need an amp the does power at 2, the re se are pretty cheap on ebay right now
Ya, this amp decision in this tread is mostly for the 10" RE SE's which I can get for $250. Those eclipse 8300's are about the same price but are single 4ohms (2ohm load on amp)and have 38mm xmax compared to the RE SE's that only have 18mm xmax, both look like great subs, but from doing alot of research and watching vids and seing results posted in the forums the RE SE's look to be the winner. I'm probably gonna head over to mark from SSA's house to check out that 12" XCON that he has there sometime this weekend, that thing looks sexy as hell and could be a possability as well.

I've talked to this guy a few times on the phone already. I was trying to get him to accept my Mossberg 12ga on trade for the amp, but he didnt go for it. I like that amp, but its the class A/B version of the 1200.1 which is harder on the electrical system, Im looking for class D....

I'll offer him $200 and see what he says, that amp would go great with the IXL's and the Eclipse 8300's @ 2ohms.

Do yourself a favor and get d4's. Its so much easier to find an amp to run at 1ohm. Pretty much any amp you find that does 1,500 or so at 2ohms is gonna cost you about $400 and up...I know I have been looking for the last 3 days.

On the subject of Hifonics doing rated power...CACO just had a thread the other day about that, and according to them Hifonics does do rated power, which I have heard before. Not to mention, I dont think you will actually hear much of a difference in 200 watts considering you are going for a clean sound and not SPL.

We just did a pair of RE SE's in my buddies 07' Cobalt using a Hifonics 1206, which at 2ohms is doing under 1k RMS. For underpowering them they still get pretty **** loud.

I have owned 2 Power Acoustic amps...a gothic series and an Apache series. The Gothic series the RCA's went out, and the Apache series blew a transistor. I realize these are older models, but I doubt PA hs gotten any better.

Ya I agree 1-ohm amps are much easier to find.

Thats good new about the hifonics amps. I might end up getting that 1606 for $190 off of ebay, it's a refurb though. The 1608 is new, but it's $230.

Do you have a link to the build/video of your friends setup with the RE SE's in the 07' cobalt? Were they 10's or 12's?

Looks like you had bad luck with power acoustic amps in the past.

Anyone else have any opinions on the power acoustic amps?
