Open Baffles

I doubt anyone here will be able to help me, but anyway...

I've been thinking about picking up a pair of 8" or so full range drivers, maybe adding a small tweeter, and using them in open baffles...does anyone have any experience with this kind of setup? Specifically, I'm looking for information on recommended baffle dimensions, any addition wiring that may be needed (such as a notch filter) and overall efficiency...

i tried a "dipole" open baffle setup with 2 nsbs and a series notch filter. lacquered cones, no phase plug. they are unbelieveably excellet for the 10 dollars total everything was //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm looking for information on recommended baffle dimensions

Cut a piece of wood to a size you can live with {wider being best},

cut a hole in the center for driver, then listen to some tunes.

Next, cut two pieces of cardboard, same height as the baffle, width is determined by you,

use duct tape, and tape these extensions to the baffle to make the baffle appear wider,

what did you hear? You should hear more upper midbass. The question is,

how much better is it? Fine tune the sweet spot by playing with different baffle widths

and then make the final design using those experimental dimensions. Choose

whatever sounds best to you.
