Open air subs

I just recently installed a new front stage and am extremely happy. I couldn't be more happy with the setup. However, I don't have a sub and my one of my 6x9s in the rear deck is blown, so I am considering taking out the 6x9s and putting in open air subs. I am having water leaking into the trunk issues (like during rainstorms, etc.) that I cannot seem to solve. So, I don't want to put a sub in the trunk and am thinking of the open air subs to replace the 6x9s in the rear deck.

Is this a better solution than getting a high quality 6x9 like the Morel Tempo 69C 6x9 speakers? My front stage consists of Morel Tempo Ultra 602 2-way components. I figure sticking with Morel's sound would be best with the 6x9s.

What do you guys think? Open air subs or put in Morel 69C 6x9 speakers?

Its called infinite baffle btw.

I got the perfect solution for you. Make a baffle, pop these in and deaden around the rear deck, cross them over and you should be golden.

How you like those Morel Tempo Ultra's? Can you compare them to any other comps?

I only listened to them on a sound board prior to buying. And, I only compared them to a set of equivalently priced Focals (don't remember the model number of the Focals). And, to tell the truth, neither speaker systerm sounded all that great (on the sound board). The Focals did sound brighter. However, I made my decision based on all the raving reviews I read on this forum and especially DIYMA. And, I definitely made the right decision!!!! In my car with proper tuning, these Tempo Ultras are absolutely amazing. The bass is much punchier than I was expecting. The mids and highs come through crystal clear. Now, my previous speakers (Infinity Kappa coaxials) were very bright and every now and then I found myself turning down the volume after extended sessions of listening at high volume. I do not foresee myself ever doing that with the Ultras. I've already noticed something different with a number of songs: I am hearing instruments that I never even heard with the Kappas.

I cannot throw enough praise on the performance of these Morel Tempo Ultra 602 speakers. If you are considering these as part of an SQ system then, BUY THEM!!! You won't be disappointed.

yeah bad thing with SQ is, you can easily go deaf since its soo pleasing to your ears, you never turn it down.

Hey Jeff,
Would you recommend those Tang Band 6x9 subs over the CDT CL-69SUB/CF 6x9 subs?
If you have money for the CL subs they should do pretty well also. Same install techniques are necessary though. The CL will hit the lows a little bit better from the more rigid carbon fiber cones and bigger motor while the tang bands are more of a midbass style subwoofer.
