Onr really really small box (Stained birch=nice), and a really really big one *Pics*

That's a couple of really cool projects bro, couldn't be more opposite from each other too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Both look awesome, the birch box is freakin sweet
Thanks.

That birch box needs the edges rounded over by a router.

Also, just personal preference but when you design your box, make it so that when your looking at the front baffle you don't see any endgrain at all.

Example,

Thank you for the input.

i normally do my boxes like that, but in this case, i thought that the end grain would make it stand out a bit more, and i have to say, that i like it.

as far as rounding them off, i didnt want to risk burning the wood with the router, so i decided against it.

just curious, whats the largest box that you have made w/o using screws?

Diggin that stained box. Might have to change colors as I was going to do a Honey Maple, but I like the looks of that cherry.

Did you use the stain/poly mix or stain and then poly? Trying to figure out which will be easier, but also bring the grain out.

nice boxes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif , is the larger box gonna have a drop in changable port?

i feel you on the clamps, thos things were like $24 somthing

each for the big ones //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif that shit adds up quick.

Invest in a brad nailer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Im building a rather awkward shaped box right now without screws...just clamps and brads.

If you use a decent router bit and don't sit in one spot you won't have a problem with burning, shouldn't really have a problem with chipout either.

Largest box I've built was a 3 cube floor standing tower setup for the dorm awhile ago (without screws). I've mostly built furniture and haven't built to many boxes.

Oh the box in the picture is double layered 1/2", basically a box inside a box, but with only having the endgrain of 1/2" showing it was a PITA.

I know, but i didnt want to take my chances.
