i hope this is the right place for this... if its not please move it

basically, i spent $67 dollars on something (from this forum)

and included in that was shipping

shipping was quoted at $6

i recieved the "package" today with nothing in it, and the end was ripped open.

the shipping on the package said it cost $2.07, and the seller says the package itself cost $1.89

simple math says that is ~$4.

now, the last $2... what could that be used for? a look on USPS website says insurance is $1.35 for this size package $.01 - $50.00 (i would be fine with getting $50.00 back if this defaulted) or even a mere $2.30 for $50.01 - $100.00 of insurance.

am i in the wrong for expecting my quoted shipping price to be fully untilized? ie: it goes without saying that if i pay $6 for shipping, i should expect my package to cost somewhere around $6 for it to be shipped? even if i dont specify that i would like it insured?

sorry if this is pointless. im sure others have you have been screwed by crappy shipping, etc, i just dont like to be ****ed with like this.

Some people figure in a little extra for shipping to offset their time or whatever.

Not saying I agree with it, just what happens. Like when companies charge you shipping and handling, I guess.

so you got scammed? someone sent you a box with nothing in it or did ups just **** up once again?
x2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Id be more concerned with getting nothing than getting overcharged $2 lol.

I simply state a quote, being in the middle of the country. When I'm selling a lot of stuff, I simply put a fixed price cuz its a lot easier than looking up what shipping for each item, to each place would be.

no, UPS ****ed up.

noob, i bought it from this site, aka from someone. not from a different website.

what im saying is that if i pay $2 more for shipping. i would expect it to get used. if it was used on insurance, none of this would have happened and i would have my money back.

if you were overcharged 10-15 or more then i'd say you have a prob but 2 bucks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif i'd be ok, if your package was ripped open and you recieved nothing then your priorities are mixed up. either the guy didn't wanna charge you $4.xx and just rounded up to 6 for whatever reason or was qouted 6 and the qoute was wrong. like i said i'd be asking about the merchandise though.

you really shouldn't wig about 2 bucks... but I agree on shitty packaging... I'm really annoyed when I order something and it shows up half-*** wrapped in newspaper and some box older than dirt... I usually buy new boxes and new packaging and pay the place to finish the packing, and in turn end up losing money on shipping....

but I'd forget the $2 and be mad about the shitty packaging

i guess im not making this clear...

i am disappointed about not getting anything.

i just wish that i could have confidence in my seller that he will ship as planned and use all the shipping money. had that been done, and my package arrive like it did, i would still have $50ish in my pocket, but now i have nothing.

gotcha, was it a reputable person here? could they have done it just to be able to say that it was ups? not sure if ups would even take a package as described though. i'd be trying to work somthing out with sell since he was suppose to insure. I like to assume people would be happy with something>nothing and would atleast work on a 50% refund if not entire since it appears to be completely sellers fault

yeah, i would say they are pretty reputable. i dont like dealing with people that arent around the forums much.

what im REALLY hoping is this:

with all the posts on the package like "DELIVERED WITH NO CONTENTS" and "NO DATA" and "DAMAGED DURING SHIPPING" etc... im hoping that the post office found the contents and are delivering it in a new package. but that might be a slim chance...

when i ship something i estimate how much it weighs and the size and give the quote to the buyer and sometimes it's higher, sometimes it's lower. hard to give an exact quote. i wouldn't worry about $2

I always ship insured, and usually request insurance on items that I buy on eBay and the forum unless its around under $25.

If it was through UPS, I'd start a claim because I believe that you automatically get $50 insurance on any item shipped via UPS. I'm not sure about that though, but either way, I'd be calling UPS's customer service number and let them know that this is unacceptable and ask them what they are going to do about it.
