Online store problems

I posted in the 'helpful Car audio site' thread but saw nobody really posts there anymore. I want to ask a question and give a warning about a site however. Today I had 2 bad experiences. But one was a real problem. The other will probably be resolved.

My problem came from explosive electronics. Which I found through Amazon.com so I thought it would be somewhat safe and trusted.

I had my first bad experience come from two different online stores in the same day.

It took me a long time to find an infinity Reference 611a amp that would send to my cousin. I finally find a site a few days ago. I order it and receive an email today saying they are out of stock. When I read that first line of the email, I thought "oh, no problem.. I'll get my refund." but later in the email it does not mention anything about a refund and says this - "We are very sorry all we can do it offer you credit and if you like anything in our amazon store that cost a little more we can give it to you for the same price." That is horrible news to hear as I looked at like 500 different sites for this exact amp and I am very picky to where I buy from and thought I found a reliable store to sell me it and they do not offer a refund? I emailed them saying I want my money back. Hopefully they will answer my email and say it is ok. If not then I am out of that money as I do not plan on buying another item from their store.

what should I do? Can they do this to me? where can I find a safe site to buy this amp? I am buying it for my Canadian cousin so I need to get it from a place that will send to Canada. Someone please help. I will feel bad knowing that a thing I planned on buying as a gift for a cousin's B-Day goes this bad. I will be a pretty bad cousin for not giving a gift also. His B-Day is in 3 weeks and I want it there before then... Sorry for all the extra personal info but PLEASE HELP ME!

CarDomain will ship to Canada. They'll also price match, which is nice - they're also authorized dealers, so you'll get the warranty.

Ahhh shit ... of course, Infinity just happens to be one of the brands that they don't ship to Canada //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Perhaps get the item shipped to you and you ship it up to your cousin - might wind up being cheaper that way anyway.

yeah I might try that. I did try Cardomain going straight to Canada and it did not work so I just skipped it. I want to get this gift to Canada in 3 weeks though for his B-Day. if they send to me, then I send it to him, that is 2x the shipping time. I may give it a try unless anyone else has a better idea.

They sent me my package via USPS ... and it took nearly a month to get here - item was in stock, shipped same day ... customs just decided to take their time with it. Item shipped from WA state ... and I'm five minutes from the US border up in BC //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'm sure if you got it shipped to you that you'd get some different options regarding shipping speed. Might cost you a bit more though.

Yes that is true and may be my only option to get the amp to my cousin. But I am still stuck with the explosive electronics problem of them still having my money and did not offer a refund.

lol not normally. I haven't talked to him since I was 4... Just met him a few months ago when I went on a search for family. He was the only person in my family into car audio and I owe him for all the years of Christmas and B-Day gifts I missed.

But again, Can anyone help my problem?

Yes, buy it from an authorized retailer in Canada to ship to him. To recoup you dollars, get whatever the online unauthorized store has in stock and sell it to someone else and get what you can for it. In the future, don't buy from e-tailers if they are not authorized dealers. Once bitten, twice shy.

The guy already took the money. I was angered that he would take my money before shipping the item. I always thought that it was like a "known rule" to ship the item then take the money. Not take the money, and not even know if you have the item in stock.

As far as buying from an authorized Canadian dealer... It is nearly impossible. I found only one site (circuit city) that will send to Canada. The problem with Circuit city, is when I go to enter a Canadian adress in the shipping information... it does not allow me to. There is no option to select "Canada" and it only shows a list of American states. It also says it needs a 5 digit zip code as opposed to the 6 digit postal # that Canadians have.

do you guys know of other sites? If so please let me know. I've went through like 300 searches for this item and my cousin is very picky in wanting this infinity amp and not another.

AHHH!!!! This guy is frustrating me.

I sent him an email saying I wanted a refund and he said he couldn't and other stuff. When I received his email saying he could not refund the item, I sent him another email saying this -

"I would like to have my money refunded. I would appreciate it if you could issue the money back to my CC and I will look elsewhere. I apologize and thank you for the offer on allowing me to chose something else but on this deal, I just cannot take anything else so I would like my money back and if you really cannot do this then I will be forced to leave negative feedback on your amazon account as well as file a claim with amazon and take serious action if possible."

After that "threat" type email of taking action by me... he then sends me this - "Your item was found and it was shipped today, thank you."

that's really fishy and something is odd here. After many emails going back and forth, he realises he has the item (the same day as all the emails were sent) and sends it. This was a series of about 7 emails all together that all happened today and he found the item today. Do you think my item will actually be received by my cousin? there was basicly no cancelling this now. I hope it gets there in time. What do you guys think?

Don't think the list the 611a online ... could've sworn I've seen it in-store.
yeah I checked that site. they do have the 310a and my cousin would be fine with that except he would need 2 of them. They have half the power of the 611a. And I like my cousin a lot but I just can't buy him two of the 310a's. Thanks anyways but I am going to keep my hopes up that this crooked dealer sends the amp like his most recent email says.
