on/off thump

Today I re-wired my system in order to better hide some wires and make the power wire shorter. I cut about 2 feet off the 4 guage power wire and moved my distribution block from the front to the back of the car.

I don't think I made any changes other than these, but now when I turn my system on and off, my speakers and my subwoofers create a loud thump. It used to do it before, but it was barely noticable. Now the subs reach like half excursion on the on/off thump. I have no idea why they started doin this.

What's going on??

Allright I'll re-do the grounds tomorrow morning. I also need to go get some new ring terminals for my power and ground wire, that might have somethin to do with it.

Well I checked my grounds, power cables, and even bought new ring terminals for my amps and ground... but I'm still getting massive thumping and speaker whine... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

What else could be the problem? All I did was shorten the power wire and move the distribution to the back, and it was working fine 2 days ago.

Cmon guys I really need your help this is driving me insane. I have checked EVERYTHING, taken my car apart, checked and re-attached and re-grounded all of my wires. The only thing I havn't checked is the head unit... but I don't think that would be the problem because I didn't touch anything near it when I re-wired the system. Does anyone know what else the problem could be???

Well I've taken the head unit out, checked the wires and everything... now when I test the amp... the speakers/subs dont even work... they just kind of slowly move in and out... this is really ****ed up, what is going on?

come on wtf is this, the retarded threads get more posts than mine. Let me bring you up to date and hopefully someone will actually answer this time. Ive spent more than 6 hours today working on this problem. I took the ENTIRE system out and re-wired it from the ground up. I even ran the RCA's on the opposite side of the car to make sure. I STILL get this stupid ****ing thump/alternator noise, and the speakers don't even play the way they are supposed to. Its getting late and im pissed off. does ANYONE have any idea what is up?

are your rca's shielded? new clean ground on the head-unit?
The RCA's are shielded im pretty sure. I did not re-do the ground on the head unit... I dont know where the ground is attached or which wire is the ground. I never had any problems with it so i left it alone... but how can i find the head unit's ground wire and where it leads
